Still at home, collecting and buying some stuff for the boat. Good to have company, not alone anymore. In february I will visit the boat exhibition in Gothenburg. Need to tighten the teak deck. In the strong heat some of the joints are
I have bought stainless steel fittings to replace the bottom valves and fittings. Heavy stuff. At boat show, I finally also got a new capstan
winch instead of the old one that broke down twice. I hope these problems now will only be a distant memory.
Have also bought a "chiller" that hopefully will
give a little freshness in the cabin at bedtime. Works with two heat exchangers (radiators) with hoses in between and a circulation pump and two computer fans blowing out cold air in the cabin. One exchanger lowers into the water as deep as possible and pull
the hose over the deck in through the front hatch down to the other exchanger with its fans. Takes only one ampere, very power-efficient. Will see if it will be effective enough down there in Greece.
The bimini (sunroof), I took home to enhance and complement, it was just a prototype that by all means worked beyond expectations. Washed and supplemented with zippers to drapes to hang on the outer edges for less transparency
and sunlight when the sun is low in the morning. It will now also be reimpregnated.
All this and much more I´ll have to bring with me down there and it
weighs very much, so we'll see how much excess weight I have to pay for.
Bought tickets to March 22 from Arlanda to Milan as the first trip. In Milan, I must
move between two airports. It takes more than one hour with a shuttle. In Athens, the next milestone, I must remain overnight at the airport hotel. March 23 I fly last bit from Athens to Leros. It will probably be good in the end.
Before I can travel I have to take care of some things at home with cars that need to be repaired, no not Åsas new Toyota Aygo thankfully, but Malins and Åsa's old Toyota
Corolla that Angela got and managed to stay alive for another year. I must replace rear shock absorbers (struts), hope the car will manage another year after that, at least.
Asa will retire, March 15, so she comes down to Kos a little later when I have fixed the boat and launched, and sailed down to Kalymnos. She comes down April 16.
Shall be really fun to meet our Greek friends in the tavern on Kalymnos again. I hope they have survived through the winter.
